If an employer is using the Savings Plan Groups to control the employer match, then adding any plan to the Savings screen that is affected by the Savings Plan Groups should immediately recalculate. What is happening is someone has traditional 401k and gets the full employer match. Then Roth is added to that person, but Roth then ALSO gets the full match because it doesn't recognize 1) There is a savings plan group to control that, and 2) There is already a plan with a full match. This leads to double the match being passed and calculated in both payroll and HR. The Savings Plan Group is used to control this, but it is not being calculated by the software unless update benefits is being run. Touching any plan in a Savings Plan Group needs to immediately kick off the Savings Plan group calculation for the employee.
